Kyphoplasty is a treatment designed to stabilize a patient’s vertebral compression fracture, thereby relieving the physical compression on their spine and restoring their mobility. This procedure is a minimally-invasive process wherein your physician creates a space with a balloon-like device and then injects specialized cement in the fracture, thereby filling and sealing the damage. Kyphoplasty is typically used to treat patients whose fractured vertebra occurred as a result of a preexisting disease, such as osteoporosis or cancer.
